[navs-main] NavNews 8/31/09

Dearest Gentlemen and Gentlewomen of the Georgia Tech Navigators,

I hope this email finds you well and in good health. In the course of human events, it becomes necessary for this scribe to inform you of the forthcoming happenings of the Navigators...
  • Intramurals shall commence this week! Ultimate Frisbee is on Sundays at 2 and Flag Football is on Wednesday at 8. For more information, talk to Nathan Evans (nevans3@gatech.edu). If you don't want to play, come out and cheer!
  • Thanks for coming out to our NavNite kick-off last week! NavNite will be once again held on Thursday at 8:00 in Student Center Room 343 this week.
  • Fall Conference is fast approaching! Mark your calendars for the first weekend in October. It's going to be a lot of fun!
  • Prayer meetings are being held every Monday morning at 7:00am at the Nav House, though probably not this week considering it is Labor Day. Breakfast and rides are provided! It's a good way to start your week. :-)
  • Also, for a service opportunity, consider helping out at SAY Yes!, an after-school program at New Life Covenant Church not too far from Tech. That is from 3-6, Monday through Wednesday.Talk to Joel McKoy if you're interested (joel.mckoy@gmail.com).
We had a lot of fun on our rafting trip this weekend. It was great getting to get to know some of you more! If you missed it, definitely plan to come next year or to any of our upcoming trips!

And as you go about your days this week, remember to "be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)!

Have a great week!

[navs-main] Rafting Trip

One week from now we will be camping in Tennessee! I hope you're as excited about the Rafting Trip as I am!!!

We need to know a few things from YOU! We have already asked some of this of you... so I apologize for the redundancy.

If you're coming:
1) Name
2) phone #
3) email
4) earliest time you can leave next Friday
5) Can you drive? How many seats do you have?
6) Do you have a tent?
7) Do you have a sleeping bag?

Also, if you are NOT RAFTING please mention that as well.

And if you are NOT COMING, but have a tent or sleeping bag, or multiple tents or sleeping bags :), that we could use, please let us know this as well. (even if you already did so a few months ago!)

TALK to your Friends!
If they're interested, either pass all of this info on to us yourself, or have them do it.

RESPOND to Skip: drexler627@yahoo.com

Please respond ASAP!

Stay tuned for more info on when and where you can pay. The cost is $65 (only $35 for Freshmen).
*If you noticed the price change, we decided to accommodate for gas. As you probably know, in the past we've asked people to pay their drivers individually for gas. This way you will not have to worry about this, and our drivers won't be taken advantage of.

Thanks everyone!
Looking forward to seeing you at NavNite next Thursday!!!

Happy First Week of Classes!

Hey Everyone! Welcome back! I hope that you have all had awesome, restful summers and that you are pumped for this next school year!

We've got some events coming up that should help ease the pain of being back in classes...
  • Today we are having our annual Nav Cook-out! This will be at the Campanile from 6-8pm. Come for food and fun!
  • Also, we'll have our first NavNite on Thursday, August 27th (we're meeting on Thursdays now). That will be from 8-10pm and in Room 343 of the Student Center. New location, new time, fun stuff!
  • And, in just ten days we have the Whitewater Trip! We'll be headed back down to Tennessee for some camping and rafting. That is August 28-29th, so mark your calendars and stay tuned for more details!
I can't wait to hear about what God has been doing in your lives during the past few months.

Let's continue to keep our eyes on the Lord as we start off this school year. He has big plans for us, so let's open our lives to be used by Him, trusting that He'll take care of our needs.

"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." -Matthew 6:33

I can't wait to see you guys soon!
