[navs-main] MLK Weekend Retreat Update!!!!!

God came through and the details for the annual MLK retreat have finally been nailed down! Here they are!

When?
Begins Friday (January 15) evening at 7:00. (That's the first weekend after school starts back!!!)
We'll head home around lunchtime on Sunday.

Where?
The Promised Land Retreat
1519 Grizzle Road
Dawsonville, Georgia 30534
(a nice little place all to our own! it's about 40 miles north of Atlanta)

Who?
1)YOU! You have no reason not to come, because it's the beginning of the semester (seriously, you don't have THAT much work yet), we get Monday off (so even if you have stuff to do, you've got a whole day to do it on), and you just had a MONTH off from school (so there's no reason to go home or anywhere else!).

2)Our friends from UGA will be there as well! If you're not friends with them yet, you will be. (Col 3:11) ;)

3)And of course, we'll be hosting an awesome speaker...

Speaker?
Gary Ockwell, an engineer who loves teaching how the Old Testament truly does relate to the New Testament. He will help us better understand their correlation.

Food?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided on Saturday, as well as breakfast on Sunday.

Cost?
Only $50 + gas for your driver!

What to bring?
mandatory:
-yourself!
-a few bucks to help your driver with gas
-Bible, journal(paper), pen/pencil
-sheets, blankets, pillow and a towel
optional:
-football, frisbee, etc
-card games, boardgames, etc

What should you do NOW?
1) If you're interested EMAIL ME (HARKEY@GATECH.EDU) WHEN YOU GET THIS. (DO NOT HIT REPLY, I don't believe it will work and then you'll get left out!) As I'm sure you've heard a million times, this is the weekend after school starts back! So we need to get things going! We'll be collecting money from everyone during the week school starts back.

2) Mark off 1/15 through 1/17 on your calendar.

3) Invite a friend!

Hey everyone!

Just a couple quick announcements before the break!

  • There will be NO NavNite tonight. Please do not come. :-)
  • Last week at NavNite, Donnie issued us a Christmas Break Blessing to keep us active over the break. The challenge is to memorize Ephesians 3:14-21 and 2 Corinthians 5:14-21, and  to read through Genesis. Be on the lookout for an invitation to a Facebook group that will be put into place to help support and encourage accountability in that challenge.

Keep your eyes on Christ this Christmas! Have a great Christmas break! Enjoy your break from school work and your time with family and friends!

If you would like a ride, please email Josh Harkey (harkey@gatech.edu) and give him a heads up. :-)

Arrive at 4:45pm. You must get there before 5pm because the streets will be closing for a local parade at 5.

It's going to be a lot of fun! Don't forget to dress up! See you there!

[navs-main] NavNews 11/30/09 w/ Important Christmas Party Details!

Hola Amigos!

I hope you greatly enjoyed your Thanksgiving Break and were able to get rested up for the rest of the semester! Keep that thankful attitude while you enter these last two weeks. Here are some important announcements!

  • Our CHRISTMAS PARTY will be this Saturday, December 5th! The party will commence at 4:45pm at the Hoover's House. We'll carpool over, but it's important that you get there on time because the streets will be closed off soon after then for the parade in the area. We'll eat soon after and then go watch the parade. Then we will return to the Hoover's for some White Elephant gift-giving! Please bring a white elephant gift (a joke present) to the party. Wikipedia describes a white elephant gift as the following, "Gifts are typically inexpensive, humorous items, or used items from home; the term white elephant refers to a gift whose maintenance cost exceeds its usefulness." Make us laugh. We will then watch Georgia Tech redeem themselves at 8pm as they take on Clemson for the ACC Championship! It's going to be a great time. Details on rides, times, and what food to bring will come at NavNite! And don't forget to dress up! :-)
  • We will be having NavNite this week on Thursday 8-10pm in Student Center Room 343! Come do something lively during Dead Week! :-)
  • MLK Retreat sign-ups will be coming up. Mark your calendars for the first weekend once we're back in January. :-)
  • Monday Morning Prayer is back in action this week. It'll be a perfect way to start off Finals Week! Try to be there! Rides and breakfast are provided.
  • Come on out to S.A.Y. Yes! Monday through Wednesday 3-6pm. For more information, talk to Joel McKoy (joel.mckoy@gmail.com).

With all your final projects and exams, keep your focus on the Lord these next two weeks. Remember that God's taking care of you. :-)

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." -Jeremiah 29:11

Have a great week! And congratulations to our Soccer team for a great season!

[navs-main] Fwd: Passion Confrence

Hey everyone!

Just passing on an idea from Joel. The Passion Conference will be coming to Atlanta for January 2-5. If you've never heard of Passion... It's basically a huge college Christian conference. I can guarantee you there will be tremendous speaker and workshops. And every main session is it's own worship concert, with big name people like David Crowder and Chris Tomlin. I went during my freshman year and it definitely made an impact on me. I learned a lot and was really excited and encouraged as the spring semester began. Check out this link for more info: http://268generation.com/passion2010/

If you have any interest whatsoever in going (or know a friend who is interested!) and want to go as a group, please contact Joel McKoy! (joel.mckoy@gatech.edu)

See you all at NavNite on Thursday!

Josh,

The Passion Confrence will be in Atlanta jan. 2-5th. They have a group rate: one free person for every 20 that register, not much but every little bit helps. More info: http://268generation.com/passion2010/

[navs-main] Rafting Trip

One week from now we will be camping in Tennessee! I hope you're as excited about the Rafting Trip as I am!!!

We need to know a few things from YOU! We have already asked some of this of you... so I apologize for the redundancy.

If you're coming:
1) Name
2) phone #
3) email
4) earliest time you can leave next Friday
5) Can you drive? How many seats do you have?
6) Do you have a tent?
7) Do you have a sleeping bag?

Also, if you are NOT RAFTING please mention that as well.

And if you are NOT COMING, but have a tent or sleeping bag, or multiple tents or sleeping bags :), that we could use, please let us know this as well. (even if you already did so a few months ago!)

TALK to your Friends!
If they're interested, either pass all of this info on to us yourself, or have them do it.

RESPOND to Skip: drexler627@yahoo.com

Please respond ASAP!

Stay tuned for more info on when and where you can pay. The cost is $65 (only $35 for Freshmen).
*If you noticed the price change, we decided to accommodate for gas. As you probably know, in the past we've asked people to pay their drivers individually for gas. This way you will not have to worry about this, and our drivers won't be taken advantage of.

Thanks everyone!
Looking forward to seeing you at NavNite next Thursday!!!

[navs-main] Fall Rafting Trip

Hey everyone!

I hope your summer is going well and that God is doing a good thing in your life. :)

Peter is organizing our rafting trip this Fall and he has a few questions for us:
1) Do you have a tent? (or tents!?) How big is it?
2) Do you have a sleeping bag? And do you have extras you are willing to lend? How many?

If there is even the slightest chance you will be going rafting with us or if you have any of these things we can use, please reply to pmtrk7@comcast.net as soon as you get this! It may seem like a long way off, but it will be here before you know it! :)

Farewell!
